USDF”L” Program Note to Graduates

Attention USDF “L” Education Program Graduates and Graduates with Distinction,

There seems to be some confusion regarding the use of half marks in judging USDF and USEF Dressage Tests. The FEI instituted half marks earlier this year, while the USEF rule below was approved 3/21/2010 it does not go into effect until 12/1/2011.

DR122 Execution and Judging of Tests. [Chapter DR. Dressage Division] 020-11, effective
12/1/11:
8. The scale of marks is as follows:
10 Excellent 7 Fairly Good 4 Insufficient 1 Very Bad
9 Very Good 6 Satisfactory 3 Fairly Bad 0 Not executed
8 Good 5 Marginal 2 Bad
All half marks from 0.5-9.5 may also be used both for movements and collective marks,
at the discretion of the judge.

We would like to remind you that, as an USDF "L" Graduate or "L" Graduate with Distinction, it is your responsibility to stay current on all USEF rules pertaining to dressage competitions. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us at lprogram@usdf.org
